The data seller of millions of people from RaidForums received only two years in prison.
A court in Amsterdam handed down a verdict against 25-year-old Erkan Sezgin, who was charged under several articles in a large-scale criminal case. Erkan Sezgin, known as DataBox on RaidForums, became widely known after putting up databases of millions of Austrian citizens for sale.
Sezgin worked as a data engineer for the Matrixian Group and was arrested in November 2022. He remained in custody until January, when his accomplices were arrested.
He was charged with a variety of crimes, including selling databases, developing phishing sites, sending spam emails, using tools to intercept crypto wallet data, laundering €717,000 worth of cryptocurrencies, and stealing €428,000 worth of cryptocurrencies.
As a result of all these charges, Sezgin was found guilty on all counts. However, the court took into account his young age, only 25 years old, as well as the absence of previous convictions. As a result, he was sentenced to two years in prison, taking into account the time already served, as well as one year of probation.
