Uniswap Fried On 'Hot Sandwiches': Hackers Withdrew $25.2 MiNews

Hackers took advantage of Uniswap's security vulnerabilities and were able to withdraw $25.2 million worth of cryptocurrency from the exchange. This was reported by the user @lookonchain on his Twitter account.

The "Sandwich" method was used to carry out the attack. 8 Uniswap pools were under attack.

Among the stolen assets:

  • $7,461 WETH ($13.4 million)
  • $5.3M
  • 3 million USDT
  • 65 $WBTC ($1.8 million)
  • $1.7M DAI
Security agency PeckShield also reported the hack. During the investigation, experts were able to determine where the stolen funds were transferred - eight addresses on the KuCoin exchange were involved.

The Sandwich attack is used to manipulate prices on decentralized exchanges. As you know, a sandwich attack involves the creation of several transactions that are simultaneously sent to the exchange in order to achieve a price change.

This is not the first time that Uniswap has been attacked. In 2022, the Uniswap v3 protocol faced a phishing attack aimed at collecting personal data in order to steal cryptocurrencies from users' wallets. As a result, the hacker stole $8 million worth of ETH.
